BioPreferred or biobased products are composed in significant part or in whole of biological products, forestry materials, or renewable domestic agricultural materials, including plant, animal, or marine materials and are USDA approved.

The 128th General Assembly passed a law (SB131, effective May 31, 2010) requiring the Director of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) to establish a program ensuring that supplies composed of biobased products are purchased by DAS, other state agencies, and state institutions of higher education. The administrative rules to accompany SB131 became effective on November 22, 2010.

The Department of Administrative Services, Office of Procurement from Community Rehabilitation Programs (OPCRP) has awarded Lott Industries a GDC contract for biobased cleaning products. The contract is available to all State agencies, State institutions of higher education, and all Political Subdivisions within the State of Ohio.
